on 15th November 1997.
ADSL Technology enables us to stream real-time videos,
transmit huge amount of data and access music videos
via existing telephone line without causing interference.
Thereby allowing people to access the Internet and use
their phones simultaneously. This revolutionary and
truly interactive personal entertainment system is a
breakthrough in broadband network.
As an integral part of the Singapore government's IT initiative SingTel
Magix represents a premier brand of services offered online and on-demand
to homes, business, institutions and schools 24 hours a day.
At SingTel Magix, we are committed to meeting your needs for high-speed
broadband services.
As always, we are constantly working to introduce new,
exciting technologies and products and to improve on them step by step.
At SingTel, we believe in innovating to give you the best of every time.
You can count on SingTel Magix to provide you with
the kind of products and services that enables you to
do more with broadband technology.
SingTel Magix is enabled by the following core technologies which
allows us to provide broadband services to homes, schools and offices.
ADSL (Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line) technology connects two
ADSL modems - one on each side of the telephone line - to allow the
transmission of large amounts of information, via a broadband network
"…(it) also allows transmission of voice while the modem is accessing
data concurrently…you can be surfing or watching a movie online and still
make phone calls on the same on line.''
"Singapore Telecom's ADSL can run up to 2.5Mb, depending on the service that
you subscribe to. This kind of data transfer speed is now possible over a
pair of normal copper telephone lines because the ADSL uses a digital
compression standard, DMT, or Digital Mult-Tone."
Connected to PSTN telephone lines and ADSL modem also allows transmission
of voice while the modem is accessing data concurrently. That means you can be
surfing or watching a movie online and making phone calls at the same time.
ATM switched fibre optical network also allows huge amounts of data,
video and images to be transferred real-time between our server farms and
the end-users' PC.
To be in line with the Singapore Government's Nation Information
Infrastructure Masterplan towards building an "intelligent" island,
SingTel Magix is proud to be part of the world's first country-wide
broadband network, Singapore ONE (One Network for Everyone). This new
level of interactivity delivers multimedia contents to every home, school
and office in Singapore
